BUSES!

So that was a crazy week. I can´t even remember what happened, it kind of went by like a blur. We´ll see if I can form it into an understandable weekly update.

Well first off, i officially dub the month of May as the month of BUSES. With the Great Conference in Sevilla, to Zone Conferences in Granada, and now  topped  off with a 13 hour round trip bus ride to Malaga for the Trainers Meeting! At least I wasn´t alone, Elder Lindley in my district is training too so we got to suffer through it together. Yeah, we´re pretty much best friends now.  And the best thing about it, we  get to make the trip again Wednesday woohoo! (Alright, I´ll stop with the sarcasm haha).
But it was honestly totally worth it. I love Presidente and Hermana Deere so much. So much. They´re pretty much the most spiritual and coolest people I know (not counting my parents of course ;). They sat us down and did the normal training and then they shared a message about how we´re never alone. Never alone! And how that should take a little bit of the stress off of us because we can´t do this work without Him and He will guide us in every moment. And thats pretty true for life in general I think. We are literally nothing without our Heavenly Father. But we´re everything if we recognize that we are HIS children!!
We got to spend the night at the mission home even which is pretty cool because my old lovely Norweigan comp Hermana Steffensen is training too!! SO we got to hang out and talk about good ol Puerto. We got a selfie in too but I wont be able to send pics until next week so stay tuned!

What else...well We survived the trip back from Malaga but then the second I stepped into Jaen we had companion exchanges with the Sister Training Leaders! I almost died of exhaustion but we had a fun day with them and we each saw our own little miracles. I love companion exchanges for that, you ALWAYS learn or see something special.

So it was amazing to see the Lord´s tender mercies this week. After not being able to work for 2 whole days because of my meeting, I was a little worried about being able to see all of our investigators and finding new friends this week. But shame on me of little faith! We ended this week with the most lessons I have ever taught in the history of my mission. We were able to teach everyone we needed to teach and then some. The guidance of the Spirit never ceases to amaze me! It was also a tender mercy because it was Hermana Seoanés last week here in Jaen. Holy vaca I´m going to miss her a ton. I feel like I haven´t given her the credit she deserves but just so you all know, she is an outstanding missionary. One of the best listernes ever and hands down the most obedient missionary I know. She´s help me to become better in every way. We had to postpone Raquel´s baptism whch was really rough, especially knowing that that meant my comp wuldnt be there to see it but I trust the Lord knows better than me!

I have loved this transfer I have had here and i love the people I´m teaching! Sorry I havent been too good at giving you all details but theres just so many (first time thats ever happened) I´ll try to be better at that and share more of the spiritual experiences I´ve had. Just know that they happen!

I love you all! Have an amazing week!

PS Jaen went from 40 Celcu¡ius to 20 this week (someone do the Fahrenheit calculation for me) so whoever was praying for us DONT STOP! I´m lovin it!! Haha

ITS HOT!!!

What a week! After our crazy awesome week of miracles last week, this week felt pretty chill. Nothing much to report but I hope you all can get a kick out of some fun times we had.
So our last P-day we invited our three "French"  friends (apparently they´re from Africa countries that speak French. Thats why we call them The Frenchies. Not because they're from France. Just so you know.  Nobody thought to tell me until now and Ive been made fun of it for it all week)  to play futbol with us (and by futbol I mean soccer for all you greenies ;) and it was a blast! I was awful and touched the ball like 5 times but hey, whatever works! The Elders and a couple members were there too and the activity started out as futbol but then it somehow ended as a dance .Haha just a group of people in the middle of the futbol court dancing some African dances, no big deal. Haha still dont know how it all happened but I got some awesome videos!

We also had Zone Conference this week in Granada an hour away (we got to ride back home in the Zone Leader´s car so it was worth it). Hermana Seoane and I had to give a workshop and it was so nerve-wracking. I´m pretty sure I´m known throughout the mission as the Red-Faced-Hermana (especially when I have to give talk in SPANISH) but oh well. I survived it, red faced and all ;) And after the Zone Meeting we even had time for a TALENT SHOW! As I have no talents whatsoever so I did nothing but my companion showed us a couple bachata dance moves, Hermana Carmen played the jaw harp (11 months with her and I still am not quite sure what that is), and my favorite was when two Elders made their own lyrics to popular songs and sang and played the guitar for us. For example, "Here Comes the Sun (Son)" and sang about the Great Apostasy and Second Coming haha. It was awesome.

As for the work here in Jaen I can proudly report to you all that I am finally used to all the hills! But now we have something new to conquer: The heat!! We´ve had an average of about 37-41 degrees Celcius (90-100 degreees F?) this week and holy cow its been a little rough! Its definitely slowed us down a bit but we´re still trying to work as hard as we can (even though in the back of my mind I am freaking out because its only MAY). But I can honestly tell you I can see the Lord´s hand strengthening us and giving us the energy to work.
It was so hot during P-day, we took turns chillin in the fridge in the chapel to cool down haha.

As for our investies, Raquel´s baptism is still scheduled for this Sunday the 24th (my 11 month mark miracle!) I´m so proud of her and for the step of faith she is taking. She will see so many blessings in her life for following the example of Jesus Christ and I know her life will never be the same!

Welp I got a call the other day from President Deere and guess who´s training! Another hija! In fact, Elder Lindley in my district will be training too so more like I´ll be having twins! Woohoo! I love new missionaries and I´m really excited for this new transfer and all the miracles we will see! I´m super nervous, ever more nervous than I was when I trained Hermana Vigo but I feel like I´ve grown a lot as a missionary and as a person so hoepfully I wont make as many mistakes! haha.

I hope you all have a great week! I love you all!

CONFERENCE & RENUNION

What an amazing, spiritual, fun, miracle-filled (as always) week! This week was unforgettable and one of the most impactful week that I have ever had on my mission. Hands down.

First, we had our Conference with Elder Allen and Elder Dyches on Wednesday! Life-changing. There was a lot of traveling involved, the mission rented a couple of buses that started at the east side of the mission and just drove around picking us all up to take to the western side where the meeting was. So a there was a LOT of reunions! My Zone since we were a litle far from Sevilla even got to stay the night in a HOTEL before the meeting the next day. That was weird. But rocked!

Then the next day we had our meeting! Yes, they talked about iPads and they helped me to see how using technology as missionaries will not only be a great blessing to the work, but also for us invidually in our lives. If I learn how to use technology RIGHT, how to use it for good and how to stay away from addictions such as pornography or from wasting precious time on things like Facebook etc, now ony my mission---its definitely a habit I can create and take with me when I get home. When I am once again SURROUNDED by technology and all its distractions that take away from family time, serving others, and learning. ANyways, just a thought. But they also talked about other things that have changed me as a person and as a missionary. Holy cow I sound so dramatic but its so true! Ive been to a lot of firesides, church and mission meetings, but this was the first one that REALLY truly impacted me! And now I have 7ish months left to use all the things I learned and felt and to work even harder woohoo!

After the meeting we ate and I got to reunite with Hermana Stefensen, my kid Hermana Vigo, Hermana Carmen (we just cant get away from each other haha) and a bunch of ELders from my old districts! And of course The Guffeys :) Love them! But my favorite part of all was when we all gathered to take a mission pic and then someone spontaneously started singing the mission hymn. ALl 201 of us started to sing, so loud, so powerfully, the Spirit was felt SO strong. I´ll never ever forget that moment. I just love my mission. I love Persident Deere and Hermana Deere especially and it´ll be sad to see them go in a couple months!

Anywaysssss we drove home that same day, stayed the night in Granada with Hermana Carmen and another companionship (Hermana Seoane and I were even able to find and teach a new investigator  that night on the way to the apartment--miracles!!!), had our interviews the next morning and by Thursday night we were back in good ol´Jaen!

My comp and I were a little worried because we were only going to be able to have 3 full days of work this week but the Lord truly truly blessed us. We were able to meet with all the people we needed to and then some. But the biggest tender mercy of all came on Sunday. 6 of our friends came to church!!! What a miracle! Three of them were our French friends that I talked about meeting my first week here. I felt the Spirit so strongly that meeting, no doubt coming from being so spiritually edified at the Conference. But the miracles dont end there folks! We left church and on the way home I get a call from our District leader, Elder Lindley (funny story, he was in my first district in Huelva so hes been able to see how my spanish has NOT improved since 7 months ago haha. just kidding. I hope.) Anyway he calls and said "oh Hermanas, yo owe us BIG!" and apparently one of our investigators who has been taught by the missionaries for 7-8 YEARS went up to them and told them "hey I want to get baptized next week, what do I need to do?" SO yayyyyyy!!!! I KNEW it was a special Sunday! And I´m so grateful for the steps our friends our taking and how they are coming closer and closer to Christ!

But of course that day was topped off by being able to talk to my beautiful family. I love them so much. AND HAPPY MOTHERS DAY MOM! I wont embarrass you by telling the whole world that you are my best friend and that my dream is to be the kind of mom you are someday and that you´re beautiful and I´m okay with people thinking you´re my sister, and that you ARE always right, so I won't.

ALright I talked WAY too much! Just know that I love Jaen, especially the ward. Every Monday we hang out with the Young Adults and play football and eat and last week we even visited a castle together. I love my comp, she is the most humble, sweetest, hardworking person I have probably ever met. She helps me to be better every day which I love. I have learned a lot from her even though I should be teaching HER haha. AH well. I love all the friends I am teaching and most of all, I love my Savior and his gospel. And I love sharing it! And I hope you do too :)

Have a great week, I LOVE YOU ALL! And Happy Mothers day to all the beautiful, strong mothers I know and love!

HURRAH FOR ISRAEL

Ate at a members home and she taught us how to make Tortilla de Patatas and I even FLIPPED it
(I was scared for my life, not gonna lie)

WEEK OF MIRACLES

WEEK OF MIRACLES!!! I have been amazed at how we´ve seen the Lord´s hand guide us here in His work in Jaén. Our mission started last week our Consecration Week. We fasted as a mission, set high goals of finding new friends and inviting them to repentance and baptism, and decided to be EXACTLY obedient, like exactly (my com and I even RAN in the mornings. Up hills. And we had to wake up early to do it. We´re crazy.) And we definitely were able to see the fruits of our labors, as a companionship and as a mission. We have our Conference this week with Elders Dyches and Allen and we are definitely now spiritually prepared! I have a strengthened testimony of the importance of the Lord´s work and how He loves each and every one of His children. I´ve seen it through the many miracles we had this week likeeeeeee:

Well first of all, the first half of this week was ROUGH. And I mean, rough. I have definitely had some tough days in the mission but never 4 consecutively. haha every night before we went to bed we would tell each other, "dont worry, tomorrow will be better" but it wasnt haha. I dont want to go into too much detail because it really doesnt matter and I want to get to the miracles but basically everything went wrong. Failed appointments, physical pain from all the hills we have to walk up (more like RUN up) to get to appointments (but seriously though, I have never been so sore in my entire life, my calf muscles are so huge it kinda grosses me out.), and it seemed like everyone was heckling us. I have never heard so many rude or crude things in my entire life (in Spanish AND english). We had little success and we weren´t reaching any of our goals. But I now have a testimony of the Christlike attribute of patience and the blessings truly do come after the trial of your faith. We now have 4 investigators have accepted the invitation to baptism and it´s all thanks to the Lord and for guiding us to find His children that He was preparing!!

JOHN from Ghana: It was another one of those rough days and we were returning from another failed appoinmtent whennnn we ran into John! We sa him on a park bench with The Restoration DVD that we had given him and he told us he was waiting to meet with a friend to show him the video! (WHatttttttt.) We were able to teach right then and there too and at the end we felt the Spirit so strong and invited him to be baptized and he said yes! He only speaks English so going to church will be difficult for him since he wont understand much but it amazes me how no matter where you are in the world no matter what language you speak, the gospel is for everyone. And everyone can understand the language of the SPirit!

We had another miracle while we were contacting on the street. I felt impressed to stop and talk to this man and while I was teaching him The Book of Mormon, one of our investigators who is impossible to find because he doesnt have a phone and is almost never home, stopped my companion. She ended up inviting him to the Family Home Evening at the church that night. He came and loved it (our ward is awesome and makes ervy activity a blast!) and afterwards we taught him the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He expressed to us that he wants and knows he needs to be baptized and we set a date with him right then and there! It just amazes me how it doesnt matter how hard I try, I really am doing nothing. Its always the Lord who guides us and puts people in our path. It truly is His work!! ANd what an amazing work it is!!

Anyway, I love Jaén. It might be the most spiritually (and physically!)trying  time of my life but I can´t even begin to express to you how much I love it! I am having the time of my life. I love the Lord and I love being his missionary. I love you all and I just want to give a shout out to my parents who celebrated their 22 wedding anniversary this week! I love them so much. They are amazing people and have been and will continue to be amazing examples I give them an A++ ;) (inside joke, sorry). I feel blessed to be their daughter and I recognize all the sacrifices they have made for me and for my siblings. You guys are my heroes! I LOVE YOU!!
