Well first of all, the first half of this week was ROUGH. And I mean, rough. I have definitely had some tough days in the mission but never 4 consecutively. haha every night before we went to bed we would tell each other, "dont worry, tomorrow will be better" but it wasnt haha. I dont want to go into too much detail because it really doesnt matter and I want to get to the miracles but basically everything went wrong. Failed appointments, physical pain from all the hills we have to walk up (more like RUN up) to get to appointments (but seriously though, I have never been so sore in my entire life, my calf muscles are so huge it kinda grosses me out.), and it seemed like everyone was heckling us. I have never heard so many rude or crude things in my entire life (in Spanish AND english). We had little success and we weren´t reaching any of our goals. But I now have a testimony of the Christlike attribute of patience and the blessings truly do come after the trial of your faith. We now have 4 investigators have accepted the invitation to baptism and it´s all thanks to the Lord and for guiding us to find His children that He was preparing!!
JOHN from Ghana: It was another one of those rough days and we were returning from another failed appoinmtent whennnn we ran into John! We sa him on a park bench with The Restoration DVD that we had given him and he told us he was waiting to meet with a friend to show him the video! (WHatttttttt.) We were able to teach right then and there too and at the end we felt the Spirit so strong and invited him to be baptized and he said yes! He only speaks English so going to church will be difficult for him since he wont understand much but it amazes me how no matter where you are in the world no matter what language you speak, the gospel is for everyone. And everyone can understand the language of the SPirit!
We had another miracle while we were contacting on the street. I felt impressed to stop and talk to this man and while I was teaching him The Book of Mormon, one of our investigators who is impossible to find because he doesnt have a phone and is almost never home, stopped my companion. She ended up inviting him to the Family Home Evening at the church that night. He came and loved it (our ward is awesome and makes ervy activity a blast!) and afterwards we taught him the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He expressed to us that he wants and knows he needs to be baptized and we set a date with him right then and there! It just amazes me how it doesnt matter how hard I try, I really am doing nothing. Its always the Lord who guides us and puts people in our path. It truly is His work!! ANd what an amazing work it is!!
Anyway, I love Jaén. It might be the most spiritually (and physically!)trying time of my life but I can´t even begin to express to you how much I love it! I am having the time of my life. I love the Lord and I love being his missionary. I love you all and I just want to give a shout out to my parents who celebrated their 22 wedding anniversary this week! I love them so much. They are amazing people and have been and will continue to be amazing examples I give them an A++ ;) (inside joke, sorry). I feel blessed to be their daughter and I recognize all the sacrifices they have made for me and for my siblings. You guys are my heroes! I LOVE YOU!!
